iPad Screen Repair: What It Costs and What to Expect
iPad screen repairs are more involved than phone screen repairs, but they're well within the range of practical repair. Here's what the job looks like and what it costs.
iPads are durable devices that often run well for 5–7 years — which means a cracked screen is worth fixing. Here's what you're looking at.
Why iPad screen repairs are more complex than phone screens
iPad screens use a large panel heavily bonded with adhesive, and the display assembly is typically the glass, digitizer, and (on some models) LCD fused together as a unit. Accessing and replacing this assembly requires careful heat application and more time than a phone screen. The larger surface area also means more risk during removal if it's done quickly.
That said, most iPad models are well-documented repair jobs and the outcome is consistently reliable when done carefully.
Price ranges by iPad model (2026)
- iPad (standard, 9th/10th gen): $120–$170
- iPad Mini (5th/6th gen): $130–$190
- iPad Air (4th/5th gen): $160–$230
- iPad Pro 11" (2nd gen+): $200–$290
- iPad Pro 12.9" (3rd gen+): $230–$330
iPad Pro models with Liquid Retina XDR displays cost more to replace due to the panel technology. Older iPad models (Air 1, Mini 2, etc.) are cheaper but parts availability varies.
iPad vs. Apple repair pricing
Apple's out-of-warranty iPad screen repair fees start at $199 for base models and run to $599 for the 12.9" iPad Pro. AppleCare+ reduces this significantly ($49 per incident) — but if you don't have it, a local repair shop is considerably cheaper for the same outcome.
On-site vs. workshop for iPad repairs
iPad screen work takes longer than phone screens — typically 60–90 minutes. We can perform this repair on-site if you have a suitable workspace available. For larger iPad Pro models, we may prefer to take it to our workshop to ensure a clean, controlled environment for the adhesive bonding step.
What if the glass is cracked but the touchscreen still works?
A cracked glass with a functional touch layer is still worth repairing — glass cracks spread over time and expose the underlying digitizer to further damage. Repairing it now while it's a glass-only job is cheaper than waiting until the digitizer fails too.
